When a young person is struggling with anxiety around school, the impact is rarely limited to them alone. It affects the whole family.

Parents often find themselves trying everything they can to help; encouraging, reassuring, negotiating with school, and searching for answers. Yet still feeling unsure what will truly make a difference.

The Calmer Teens programmes are designed to support both the young person and their parents, helping the whole family move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and calm.

The Calmer Teens Programmes for School Anxiety

Structured Support for Families Navigating School Anxiety

Calmer Teens is a structured programme created specifically for young people experiencing school anxiety, school avoidance, or significant emotional stress connected to school.

The programme combines direct support for the young person with guidance for parents, recognising that lasting change often happens when the whole family understands what is happening and how to respond in helpful ways.

Through the programme, young people learn practical tools to manage anxiety, regulate their emotions, and rebuild confidence in themselves and their ability to cope with challenges.

At the same time, parents gain insight and guidance on how to support their child in a way that strengthens the parent–child relationship and reduces the cycle of worry and pressure that can often develop around school difficulties.

School Anxiety and Emotional Pressure in Teens

School anxiety is becoming increasingly common among young people. For some teenagers, the pressure of school, social expectations, or academic performance can lead to persistent worry, avoidance, or emotional overwhelm.

Parents often notice changes such as reluctance to attend school, increased stress around homework or exams, difficulty sleeping, or a growing loss of confidence.

When anxiety begins to interfere with school attendance or daily life, it can quickly affect the whole family.

Early support can make a significant difference. Helping a young person understand their emotional responses, develop coping strategies, and rebuild confidence can prevent patterns of anxiety from becoming more deeply established.

The Calmer Teens and Calmer Tweens programmes are designed specifically to support families navigating school anxiety, combining direct support for young people with guidance for parents so that positive change can be supported both in sessions and at home.
